God’s Faithfulness

“So the priest said, “The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you killed in the Valley of Elah, there it is, wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod. If you will take that, take it. For there is no other except that one here.” And David said, “ There is none like it; give it to me.””

David and his men are in desperate need of supplies. He went to Abimelech the priest to request for food and weapons. Besides the holy showbread, he was also given the sword of Goliath. Receiving the sword in his hands, he must have been reminded of God’s faithfulness toward him. God was the one who granted him victory over the giant Goliath. The same God could do it again for him.

At that time, given that he was fleeing from Saul, Saul could be seen as yet another giant.
