Being In Need

“And everyone who was in distress, everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gathered to him. So he became captain over them. And there were about four hundred men with him.” - I Samuel‬ ‭22:2‬ ‭(NKJV‬‬)

If someone is in distress, in debt or discontented, people would usually think they are too much of a hassle to handle. These people would be left unattended. But David was kind enough to take them in, give them a sense of purpose and usefulness by being in his army. He understood what it meant to be in disresss as well, having to flee from Saul.

Today, is anyone around you distressed, in need of help or a listening ear? Reflect on the time someone had comforted you in such times. Are you doing likewise for such a person in your midst?
