Pursuing Jesus

Hi bloggers and readers! It has just dawned upon me that I have not be updating this blog gosh haha. Right now in Singapore, it's considered an ungodly hour: 2.40am hahaha life's good! :p

I had been busy with my project on 1st Corinthians (because I embarked on an independent bible study course on January) and I finished it a few days ago (YAY)! In general, life has been quite hapz (happening) haha and I just want to thank God for leading me on a journey to grow in deeper intimacy with Him and letting me be part of His plan to see the gospel advance in my nation.

Just last Thursday, I invited my sister Grace to my youth cell group, and her response was totally shocking to me because I thought she would be preoccupied with work and wouldn't be able to come, or she would say no. I decided to causally ask her since she texted me, and in the end she came for cell group! God's really awesome and He showed me what faith can really do. I know I serve a big God, and nothing is impossible for Him :)

Moving on to the objective of my Blog post today: Recently, I have been on Instagram quite often, and there was a sudden spark of inspiration to just create photos and add texts of what God has been speaking to me. Spontaneously, both photos I uploaded had this common theme: Pursuing Jesus. I thought I would like to put these photos here, and what God spoke to me. My hope is that God will encourage you through these, and no matter what you are going through, just fix your eyes on Jesus, and everything will be okay :);

Title: The One Pursuit
The pursuit of knowledge, earning of money and fulfilment of wants and needs is good - we need to grow, we need to survive, and we need a life. It'll be dangerous though when these pursuits become an obsession.

Note: Don't ever let any pursuit in this life take away the one obsession that is eternally worthwhile: Pursuing Jesus.

Philippians 3:14 (NIV) - I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Title: Freedom
“Sin will take you farther than you ever want to go, keep you longer than you ever want to stay, and cost you more than you ever want to pay.”

One of the most deceitful things about sin is the pursuit of the sin. At the beginning there is a feeling of excitement and adrenaline, but once you gain the sin, and you satisfy yourself with the sin, it leaves you barren and empty. I found this true as I think about life.

Ultimately, the pursuit of freedom from sin, and finding permanence in fulfilling the emptiness does not lie in striving to overcome, but from pursuing Jesus.

(Reflection for Romans 7-8)
Emphasis Romans 8:10-11 (NIV)
But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness. 11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.
