Set us apart

by Tuesday, March 29, 2011

Hi there again! I think I must admit this: my English is not really that good, so if you all have anything that you don't understand, please forgive me: I am not English pro. : P OK, and so, this is the 95th post I am typing out, and by the grace and spirit of God, I thank God for His unlimited guidance that this blog have gone so far. In actual fact, just to let you guys know, I felt like giving up, since I had run out of topics to post about, but anyway, thanks be to God, because He is never failing, I could come up with this post..

With my strength I can achieve nothing, but with Jesus, nothing is impossible!
And now, here I go...

While I was reading my daily devotion, this verse just started to give me a title: set us apart.

Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle and set apart for the gospel of God..
Romans 1:1

Two words that caught my attention: set apart. I asked myself: what is the true meaning of being set apart for God? The answers:

1) Servant of Christ
The simplest definition that I can think of: to be set apart for God means to be a servant of Christ. It means being willing to surrender to Him.

For instance, how my blog came about. A totally random blog, changed to a blog full of God’s presence and strength. Just to let you know, one of the best things I can do is to type A to Z using my computer keyboard. My best record was 3 seconds! (OK, maybe this is some kind of talent I should not brag about.. :P) Since I found out what I am good at, I excelled at it through blogging. And when I am set apart for this, I need to live it out for what I am called to be. Personally I will start to think in Godly perspectives and devote some time to this good purpose.

Being set apart= servant of Christ

Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will bring justice to the nations.
Isaiah 42:1

2) Jesus becomes the focus of your life
Being set apart for God means to shift your focuses to the Saviour and to place God as everything. Our Saviour, Jesus, came to earth, and, as though He sinned greatly, He died so that we can be freed from sin. Therefore, we need to hate our sinful nature and leave our life of sin. It is only after we hate sin then we can place our centre on the Saviour: to please Him and have Godly desires in our life.

When your focus is to please God for all the days of your life, naturally you will find that your priority becomes set upon God, and you will lead a holy life!

Being set apart= Jesus becomes your focus

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14

3) Stop following the world's culture
Few weeks after my friends watched the movie black swan, they started to discuss about the movie. Comments were passed: I'm disgusted. I regretted watching it online. I regretted buying the ticket. Did you know that many people went off after seeing only one part? Instead of replying their comments like: Ooo, so those people wasted so much money eh? I decided to reply like this: the culture of the world is corruption. We need to be wary of the devil's plot and ask God to protect us so that we do not follow them. Well, my friends just commented that I am too holy.

However, I was stating a fact. The devil is using the world's corruption to build walls of his own so that he can fool people to believe in him. Stop being fooled by the devil and start to shout back at him. Ask God to cover your ears and let it be opened only to God's voice, so that God's protection will always be with you. Follow the culture of Jesus and ask Him for a Godly purpose so that you will become set apart for the glory of God.

Being set apart= follow Jesus; tear down walls of the devil

“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. ”
John 8:12

4) Dead to the old
Similar to point 3, being set apart for Jesus meant that we have to stop following the world's cultures, we need to be dead to our old ways; the ways that we used to live. The moment when we chose to accept Christ, our debt of sin is paid by the blood of Jesus. Hence, when we are set apart for Christ, we are a new being, holy and pure in His sight.

Being set apart= given a new life

We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
Romans 6:4

Most importantly, if you are currently reading this now and have not chosen to accept Jesus as your Saviour, do it now! For guide to salvation prayer, click HERE! And, when you are done, feel free to leave a comment on my chatbox to share the joy!

And for those who are Christians, a question I would like to ask:
Are you aware of what God has set you apart for?
If you do not have an answer, it is time to ask Him for one. Live with a Godly purpose today!

Set us apart for you... Jesus!

Maturity

by Saturday, March 26, 2011

Its been a few weeks since I celebrated my birthday. I am one year older than the previous month, 17. However, maturity is never determined by age or looks.

I have met some friends who are in their 20s and are still behaving like a kid. Nevertheless, they look like their age. Some, however, are in their early teens and behave like a mature adult!

Being mature is an essential tool for knowledge and wisdom. 1 Corinthians 13:11-12 states:

'When I was a child, I talked like a child. I thought like a child. I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.'

If we are childish, we will interpret things differently. Since a childish person thought like a child, when problems hit them, they may brush the problem off one side and leave it for others so solve. Hence the problem may never be solved, or it may be solved by others. However, for a mature person, as they put their childish ways aside, when they problems come their way, they will think differently and try to solve problem. This is called thinking in maturity.

Likewise, there is a difference in behavior. Given an example: quarrels between friends. After a quarrel, a childish man will act as though he had never seen his friend, and act indifferently; a mature man will try to initiate a session where they can talk and not worsen the relationship.

Next, spiritual maturity is important in our Christian walk. Hebrews 5:12-14 states:

'In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God ’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.'

No matter how many years we have been Christians, perhaps for 5 years or 10, we may find ourselves not growing in spiritual maturity at all. This is because when God sometimes speak to us, or commands us to accomplish something, we are sometimes so reluctant that we tend not to listen to Him, maybe because of our tight schedule, or problems that had made us so tired. We need to constantly run to the Lord and hear His voice, as well as not to let sin trample on our lives and become the gap between Christ and us. It is only when we recognise what God wants us to do, and keep following Him, then we will grow, not only in faith, but also in spirit and truth.

A baby grows to a young healthy person because of the food He intakes. You cannot feed the baby with curry or chilli at a tender age. Similarly, you cannot feed a young adult with baby food. You have to choose the diet that is suitable for their age. Now that you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, you need to get rid of all the old ways you lived previously; things that war against your soul, since you became a new being in Christ.

'For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.'
1 Peter 1:23

'Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.'
1 Peter 2:1-3

This is why the word is so crucial for our spiritual maturity. The word serves as a guide: when we apply it in our daily lives, we will grow in maturity, because the word will cause us to think things differently with a Godly perspective. The bible states:

'When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.'
Acts 4:13

Making yourself available to spend time with Jesus, when you start to listen to His teachings, you will be filled with wisdom and spiritual maturity, just like Paul and John. They did not attend school, and was ordinary men, just like anyone of us. However, because He spent time with Jesus, this led to a growth in wisdom, courage and maturity. Spiritual maturity is never determined by the amount of school you attend, the frequency in the lessons that you sit in, or the good school you may currently attend; spiritual maturity grows when you take time to read the word, apply it in your life, and spend time with Jesus!

Lastly, just an advice for all:
Stop staying as a baby, waiting to be spoon-fed. Start to desire spiritual growth, and spend time with the Savior in prayer and the word. For in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God (John 1:1). God bless you and hope your faith, strength and maturity will grow one step higher as you finish reading this post. Also, share with someone about the importance of salvation and spiritual maturity today! :)

I press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenwards in Christ Jesus. All of us who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you.
Philippians 3:14-15

We need to move!

by Wednesday, March 23, 2011

Thank God that I was able to make it for TheEDGE's net rally on 18 March. Pastor Rich Witmer was speaking about being a revolutionary. After the whole service, God just pinned down a thought in my head which is today's topic: We need to move!

Sometimes people are so used to their ways or thinking that when suggestions from friends just come from their family members or friends, they are just so stucked to their thinking, especially from the influence of people, that they just started getting angry at others because of the way they used to think or live. And today, God wants to tell us: we need to move!

Stop saying that you cannot be an impact for your generation, or that you cannot do any great things. Start to be bolder, and with absolute faith, shout it out loud: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me! (Phiilippians 3:13) Maybe people around you have been discouraging you that you are so useless and you cannot do anything. Start to declare, that Jesus is going to do bigger and greater things in your life. Because God sees the vision of your life ahead of you, hence, start to ask God for that vision, and run for it. For at the end of your life, you shall be able to say: I have fought the battle and had won total victory in Christ alone. (2 Timothy 4:7)

What Pastor Rich Witmer said is this:
Revolutionaries are against the status quo- they don't do what other people do, and won't try anything which people say is possible. However the bible says that nothing is impossible for God. (Luke 1:16) God taught me a lesson:

I am bigger than who you think I am; I am greater than who you think I am. Therefore you need to dream bigger and far more than what you can imagine in your human mindset.

People, we must stop thinking in our human mindset, for what the world may think aggressively may become our influence. Start to move and think in Jesus's mindset. Start to be bolder in your thinking and go for the gospel, for God's power will be with you always. Remember, no matter whatever means you are using to lead people to Christ, except for violence, the Gospel is never chained!

Life's unpredictable

by Saturday, March 19, 2011

Recently, it came a shocking news: Tokyo Japan hit by earthquake. Initially, I could not believe what I saw on yahoo news. How could this be? Its Japan? I asked myself.

Then this topic just hit me: life's unpredictable. Who knows what will happen to you the next minute or second? When you were happily going for a picnic or going to school or work?

This just relates me back to Noah's time, when God decided to send the flood to all parts of the earth:

The LORD then said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation. Take with you seven of every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate, and two of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate, and also seven of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive throughout the earth. Seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made.”

And Noah did all that the LORD commanded him.

Noah was six hundred years old when the floodwaters came on the earth. And Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives entered the ark to escape the waters of the flood. Pairs of clean and unclean animals, of birds and of all creatures that move along the ground, male and female, came to Noah and entered the ark, as God had commanded Noah. And after the seven days the floodwaters came on the earth.

In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, on the seventeenth day of the second month—on that day all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened. And rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights.

On that very day Noah and his sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth, together with his wife and the wives of his three sons, entered the ark. They had with them every wild animal according to its kind, all livestock according to their kinds, every creature that moves along the ground according to its kind and every bird according to its kind, everything with wings. Pairs of all creatures that have the breath of life in them came to Noah and entered the ark. The animals going in were male and female of every living thing, as God had commanded Noah. Then the LORD shut him in.

For forty days the flood kept coming on the earth, and as the waters increased they lifted the ark high above the earth. The waters rose and increased greatly on the earth, and the ark floated on the surface of the water. They rose greatly on the earth, and all the high mountains under the entire heavens were covered. The waters rose and covered the mountains to a depth of more than twenty feet. Every living thing that moved on the earth perished—birds, livestock, wild animals, all the creatures that swarm over the earth, and all mankind. Everything on dry land that had the breath of life in its nostrils died. Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out; men and animals and the creatures that move along the ground and the birds of the air were wiped from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark.

The waters flooded the earth for a hundred and fifty days.
Genesis 7

Firstly, God was so grieved at mankind because they were doing evil, which means opposing God. Even though God is forgiving and gave them time to repent, time and time again, they failed God.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23

Because only Noah was found righteous in God's sight, God decided to establish His convenient with Noah. However, even after the flood, there was still corruption, as we can see today. This was the reason why God had to send His Son, Jesus, to die for our sins. Only Jesus was found righteous and holy, therefore the greatest sacrifice, death, was the only option. And right now, for us, we do not need to die to redeem our own sins. Jesus paid it all, and we just need to declare by faith that Jesus is Lord, and be saved. I'm talking about being saved from spiritual death, in case anyone of you are lost here.

Right now, back to the topic on life's unpredictable, the bible states:

Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
Matthew 10:28

“Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.” “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’
Luke 12:18-20

Only God Himself has authority to give and end life. This minute you may be taking life easy, or telling yourself this: well, I know Jesus loves me, therefore I shall wait till the last minute when I am in my deathbed, that time, I will accept Christ. Not too late though? Then you keep dragging on and dragging on your salvation.. Why are you waiting so long to be saved, since God's salvation gift to you is so ready and available now? Why are you giving yourself so little time to taste God's love and goodness for your life?? Why shortened it?

Next, is the point of being busy. A month ago, when I blogged about being too busy. Sometimes busy people are not willing to take time off to relax and seek the Lord. Look, life's unpredictable. Instead of focusing your minds on the world, for instance, studies, why not put your focus on God; a God who is everlasting? Afraid of time management? The bible states:

If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.
James 1:5

If you are so afraid that you cannot do your homework after reading the bible or seeking God, why not try to ask God for wisdom? For when God sees the hunger that you have, even though you are so busy, God will reward you for what you have done.

Right now, after reading this, everyone here should be able to agree with me that life's unpredictable. So right now, if you are still hesitating on your salvation, let me tell you this: NEVER leave earth until you have experienced the goodness of God. You will never regret your decision, because you are going to encounter a God who truly loves you!! Make a wise choice today!

Prayer:
O God, right now I pray that you will soften those hearts; those hearts who have been so hardened and not willing to accept such a good Savior. O God, right now, let them know that you are God. Place people who can make a Godly impact in their lives. Let the lost know that you are God. And for those hearts who have been so weary and tired, Father, right now I pray for a restoration of strength and peace in their hearts. Continue to fill them up with your spirit, and strengthen them. Let those who desire to seek you find you. You know, O God, those who have been desiring to seek you even though they are sometimes so burdened. You said that they could come to you, for you will grant them strength. So, right now, Jesus, move in their lives and pour out your spirit upon them. And for those reading this post now, I pray that they will encounter you and a fresh and a new way. I thank you for their lives and pray for your abundant blessings to be poured out upon them and their families. Watch over them, O Lord. In Jesus name I pray, Amen

Blessings

by Wednesday, March 16, 2011

What is your definition of blessings? Giving people your time even when you have not enough for yourself; choosing to make a difference in other people's lives and not expecting anything in return: to me, these are true blessings. Ever tried to be a blessing to someone? Or ever met someone who has been a blessing to you? Well for me, I have met some, and I thank God for their lives: Jesus Himself, Pastors, discipler, leaders, teachers and friends. As of the question, if I had ever been a blessing to someone, I think so. (maybe I'll try to ask some of the people I know.. Next time..)

Here are a few verses which I found, and I think it will be the most applicable one in regards to being a blessing:

'A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.'
Proverbs 11:25

'They are always generous and lend freely; their children will be a blessing.'
Psalms 37:26

'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'
Acts 20:35

Being a blessing to someone, firstly, do not be stingy, but be generous. Help others whenever you can. How can you become a blessing to others when you are so selfish and only think that the whole world is revolving around you? It is only when you bless others, when people feel happy, the joy of yours will be complete.

Next, comes the blessings in disguise. Most times, when troubles come our way, and we feel so frail, and useless, sometimes this is God's plan, to make us stronger in trails and tribulations. We just need to trust that God is going to deliver us from all those trails and make us stronger in faith. For God never leaves us and never fails.

“Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh. Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man. Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their ancestors treated the prophets.”
Luke 6:20-23

Now, since we know our God is holy, therefore He will never teach us or tell us to do anything wrong. When we do something wrong, God will discipline us, like how a father disciplines his child. Psalm 94:12-13 states:

'Blessed is the man you discipline, O LORD, the man you teach from your law; you grant him relief from days of trouble, till a pit is dug for the wicked.'

For this, I thank God for being my great teacher, teaching me to walk in His holy ways. For I know that as long as I obey Him, I'll be blessed in everything I do.

Knowing Jesus is a great blessing. For me, because I know Jesus, hence when I entrusted my future into His hands, I know that my future is going to be bright. One of my favourite verses, Jeremiah 29:11, states:

“For I know the plans I have for you,”declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”

Hence, throughout the days of my life, I never stop thanking God for my salvation, because He is my Savior, I can safely put my future into His hands, believing that I have a hope and a destiny.
Lastly, sharing with someone about Jesus can bring blessings, not only over their lives, but also for your life. Anyone who knows Jesus will be blessed and saved, and anyone who shares the word of Christ, no matter what platform you may be using, as long as the word is brought out, they too will be blessed!

“Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile — the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Romans 10:11-13

“Blessed are the pure in heart,  for they will see God. ”
Matthew 5:8

Summing up...
  1. To be a blessing, be generous
  2. Look upon trials as a blessing in disguise
  3. God's discipline is a blessing for His obedient children
  4. Place your future in God's hands, for you will be blessed
  5. Know Christ and be blessed
  6. Share Christ and be a blessing to others
I hope you have learnt something from this post today, and may you be a blessing to the people around you, just as how God generously blesses you. God bless ya!! :D

How He loves us

by Monday, March 14, 2011
This is just a song that I will like to share..

How He loves us

Lyrics:
He is jealous for me
Love's like a hurricane, I am a tree
Bending beneath the weight of His wind and mercy

When all of a sudden, I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory
and I realize just how beautiful You are and how great your affections are for me.
Oh, how He loves us so
Oh, how He loves us
How He loves us so.

Yeah, He loves us
Woah, how He loves us

Woah, how He loves us
Woah, how He loves.

So we are His portion and He is our prize,
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes
If grace is an ocean we're all sinking
So heaven meets earth like a sloppy wet kiss and my heart turns violently inside of my chest
I don't have time to maintain these regrets when I think about the way

That he loves us,
Woah, how He loves us
Woah, how He loves us
Woah, how He loves

He loves us,
Woah, how He loves us
Woah, how He loves us
Woah, how He loves

'We will never be same again when we encounter God!'

Psalm 13:5
But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.

Psalm 25:7
Do not remember the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me, for you, LORD, are good

Psalm 26:8
LORD, I love the house where you live, the place where your glory dwells.

Psalm 118:4
Let those who fear the LORD say: “His love endures forever.”

Psalm 119:64
The earth is filled with your love, LORD; teach me your decrees.

True forgiveness

by Friday, March 11, 2011

Recently I was reading John 8 where it talks about a woman who committed adultery and there was the teachers of the law and the Pharisees who wanted to stone her. This was what the bible stated:

'At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group and said to Jesus, “ Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In the Law of Moses commanded us to stone such woman. Now what do you say?” They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.

But Jesus bent down and started to write on ground with his finger. When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “If anyone of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.” Again he stopped down and wrote on the ground.

At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”

“No one, sir,” she said.

“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”
John 8:2-11

Firstly, Jesus knew that those teachers of the law and the Pharisees wanted to find a basis against Him so that they could accuse him. Therefore, knowing their motives, He replied them by letting them throw the stone at the woman, only if they themselves are not guilty of sin. Proverbs 14:3 says:

'A fool's talk brings a rod to his back, but the lips of the wise protect them.'

Secondly, only Jesus himself was not guilty of sin, and only He was worthy to stone that woman. Matthew 3:17 says:

'And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”

Yet when only Jesus was found worthy to throw the stone at that woman, He choose to forgive that woman by telling her to go in peace. Why did Jesus chose to forgive her? Here's why:

1) Jesus came to call sinners back to Him
This includes the woman herself, for she committed adultery.

Mark 2:17  “It is not the healthy who need the doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

2) Jesus is here to take away the sin of the world
Adultery is considered sin, and since that woman sinned, Jesus wanted to take all her sins away. And it is only by the blood of Jesus that all sins could be washed away, for He is the Holy one.

John 1:29 “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”

What great forgiveness that Jesus has for us! This taught me 2 lessons: I am a sinner and can only turn to Jesus so that my sin will be wiped away, and I should forgive others as I myself am also guilty of sin.

I hope that through this post today, you will learn the same lessons, and continue to be thankful to Jesus for your salvation and His forgiveness. God bless! :D

From young to old

by Wednesday, March 09, 2011
Realising that all my blog followers are not from Singapore, I just decided to let you know more about myself... And so, here goes!

From left to right: my elder brother- Joshua, eldest sister- Grace, youngest sister- Joanna, and me: I am the third...
How were our placing: who the doctor carried out first, who will be the first!! Interesting eh... :p
So... Our placings: 1st: Grace, 2nd: Joshua, 3rd: Joy (me!!), 4th- Joanna

Shortly after I looked at this picture above, I named the title of this post From young to old. Just want to give you all a short introduction of the people in the picture...

On 9 March 1994, my mum bore 4 cute kids.. Quadruplets, a rare case which even my parents couldn't believe it themselves at first. And I was one of these cute toddlers at the extreme right.. Thank God for His grace that even when my brother, sisters, and I were born 3 months earlier, we are still healthy, alive, and living today. Miraculous! And glory to God for for our lives! And today, I celebrate my birthday.

From left to right: my elder brother- Joshua, youngest sister- Joanna, eldest sister- Grace, and me!!
I don't think we had any change eh... Today.. Officially 17th birthday!! :D

In a blink of the eye, we are now all officially 17. Thank God that till today, we are still alive and well. I thank God for my salvation, for if it is not because of Him, until now, I may still be kept in the dark, that there is a Savior above who loves me and keeps me safe. His name is Jesus!

Hello kitty remains the same... But well, I will grow old one day... :)

Now, being a big girl, I must admit that I may still be childish a little, or wilful sometimes, but I thank Jesus for using my life in a great way, not only through this blog, but even through random conversations with my friends. I thank God for being that inner spark, shining in me and making me whole. For this is what true beauty is all about: even if I am not that pretty, or of a strong influence, having Jesus in my life is more than enough!

This just makes me think of a verse:

'When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.'
1 Corinthians 13:11-12

Now that I am older, and am more able to understand things, I can no longer stay in my childish ways. I can only now grow to be more mature, being more hungry and thirsty for the word of Christ, for God gives me wisdom and knowledge so that I can understand Him more deeply.

And so.. I end with this..

Happy birthday to me, and my siblings! Really thankful to God for creating my life. And may God bless these readers just as how He blesses me! :D

Actions speak louder than words- faith, hope, love

Faith
'But be sure to fear the LORD and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you.'
1 Samuel 12:24

When you say you have faith in Jesus, do you really serve Him as how He commands you to do? Or do you just tell Him that you will do it and just leave your calling at one side, and later just give Him some excuses that you can't respond to the calling?

'Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?'
Matthew 6:25

When you say you will place all your faith in Jesus, do you stop worrying and decide to cast it all to Him, and start to pray? Or you just decide to continue worrying about small little things in your life?

Hope
“Did I ask you for a son, my lord?” she said. “Didn’t I tell you, ‘Don’t raise my hopes’?”
2 Kings 4:28

When situations did not come through for you, or when the results are not what you desired, do you still remain hopeful, or start to curse and swear at God?

'What strength do I have, that I should still hope? What prospects, that I should be patient? Do I have the strength of stone? Is my flesh bronze? Do I have any power to help myself, now that success has been driven from me?'
Job 6:11-13

When you are facing tough times, do you remain hopeful that Jesus is going to come through for your life, and continue to pray, hoping for the better, or just deduce that God is not for you, and start to get angry with Him?

Love
“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. ”
1 John 3:18

When you say you love someone, do you love someone by just saying it out, but on the other hand start hurting them? Or do you love someone with your actions, caring about their feelings?

'Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.'
James 2:15-17

When you say you have love for a brother or sister, do you do it in action, by providing for their needs and take care of them till they are well, or just leave them in the lurch for other people to care for them?

Think about that: Are your actions louder than words? Rather than paying lip-service, why not start to pay life-service to God?

'And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.'
1 Corinthians 13:13

Just want to post something which is related to this post. Its from my friend who commented on this link:
"As a child, I learned to Hope.
When I became a man, my Hope matured into Faith.

With my old age approaching, I pray my Faith bears Love upon its branches."

He did it all first

'For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.'
John 3:16

For He sees my life greater and bigger than His, therefore I'll live my life for Him, knowing that He is worthy.

'Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up. You will increase my honor and comfort me once more.'
Psalm 71:20-21

When I felt down, He was the one who knows and comforts me with perfect peace. Therefore I am able to give the comfort that Jesus has given me, to others.

'For the sake of your name, LORD, forgive my iniquity, though it is great.'
Psalm 25:11

For I sinned so greatly in the days of my life when I am living on earth, but by His blood, my sins were washed away. For no more shall I be in bondage to sin. Therefore I will forgive others as how He forgives me.

'Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.'
Isaiah 40:28-31

When I was so weak and weary, He lifted me up and strengthened me. Therefore, as how He strengthens me always, I'll strengthen others.

'The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.'
Psalm 34:17-18

When I wanted to give up on praying, thinking that my prayers were going to go unanswered, He assured me that my prayers were never go unanswered and I must trust in His timing. Therefore, just as He never gives up on me, I will not easily give up on situations and the people around me.

I thank God so much for what He had done, and is doing in my life. He did it all first, so that we can follow His ways. Be an imitator of Christ and a carrier of Jesus's spirit wherever you go, and be a blessing to other people's lives today!
